Company Strategy
Liberia & the Birimian gold provinceThe Birimian gold province in west Africa is home to several of the largest gold deposits and mines in the world. The most notable of these mines is Obuasi in southern Ghana, which has had reserves of over 40 million ounces, but there are dozens of other mines across the region with multi-million ounce reserves. In mining terms, the Birimian is elephant country.

During the exploration boom of the 1980s and 90s, Liberia was undergoing an intermittent 14-year civil war and remained unexplored. Liberia has now been stable for several years, and a strong UN presence remains. Eastern Liberia is the last major remaining unexplored region of the Birimian.
Unique positioning and focused strategyHummingbird Resources has been active in Liberia since 2005 and is in a prime ‘first mover’ position in eastern Liberia, with excellent contacts and relationships throughout the country. Hummingbird has held a land package of circa 9,000 square kilometres and through efficient exploration is now focussed on 5,000 square kilometres of greenstone contacts in the Birimian, making it the largest company exploring Eastern Liberia

Hummingbird Resources has a clear strategy of focussing on exploring greenstone contacts in the Birimian, maximising its potential of making multiple significant gold discoveries. It aims to keep administrative and logistical costs to an absolute minimum, concentrating expenditure on systematic, thorough and professional exploration of its targets, with a view to realising maximum shareholder value in the most cost-efficient and timely manner possible, without taking the shortcuts which are so often the downfall of junior exploration companies.

Hummingbird’s current strategy is to list on the most appropriate recognised stock exchange in Q4 2010 in order to realise shareholder value.
